Helping children fall in love with reading is the aim of The Westport Club’s Library Regeneration Program. Since 2009, The Westport Club has donated books to the libraries of every primary school in the Port Macquarie-Hastings region. On Tuesday 5 March 2019, we celebrated 10 years of the Library Regeneration program by returning to the very first school that we donated books to, which was Westport Public School. The donation was announced at a special assembly with all the children in attendance and having the chance to win some special prizes. The Westport Club team had a blast presenting $5,000 worth of donated books, and after the assembly, we all headed to the library to read some of them with students. The books that were donated were chosen specially by teachers from Westport Public School and included all different topics and themes.

Making our vision a reality

The Westport Club’s Vision is ‘to make a significant contribution to the quality of community life‘ in everything that we do. We are proud to continue helping children in our region to enjoy reading through this valuable program which has helped enrich the education experience of children in our region since 2009. During the program, The Westport Club has donated more than $75,000 in books to schools in the Port Macquarie Region. It’s things like this that make all of our team proud to come to work every day and what makes our work worthwhile.

Thank you to our partners

We would like to thank Dymocks Children’s Charities for partnering with us on the Library Regeneration Program and without whom it would not be possible. We would also like to thank our customers, whose membership allows us to be able to support local community groups, charities and schools in achieving their own goals and objectives.
