There’s something truly special about a new book – the crisp pages, the promise of adventure, and the opportunity to discover something new. Reading plays a vital role in shaping a child’s development. Beyond improving literacy skills, it strengthens communication, fuels creativity, and supports overall educational outcomes. For many children, access to quality books can be the key that unlocks a passion for learning. For thousands of local students, that excitement is becoming a reality thanks to our continued partnership with Dymocks Children’s Charities.
Together, we’re proudly helping to deliver both the Library Regeneration Program and Book Bank Program across schools in Port Macquarie, ensuring that children have access to engaging, high-quality reading materials that inspire a lifelong love of learning. Through this initiative, more than 3,000 new books will be distributed to four participating schools, helping to refresh and revitalise their school libraries. For many students, this means greater access to stories that capture their imagination, broaden their horizons – and support educational development. The impact doesn’t stop there, every student attending these schools will also receive their own library bag – a simple yet meaningful gesture that encourages taking pride in their reading journey.
The visits to Comboyne Public School, Long Flat Public School, Herons Creek Public School and Wauchope Public School will be more than just book deliveries, but involve presentations during school assemblies and story time sessions with students.
The Westport Club General Manager, Anthony Westman, shared his enthusiasm for the initiative and its lasting impact on the community, stating “We’re incredibly proud to partner with Dymocks Children’s Charities to bring more books into the hands of local students. By investing in literacy, we’re helping to open doors, spark imagination and create brighter futures for children across our community. Through our long-standing partnership, we’re helping children develop a lifelong love of reading while making a meaningful contribution to the quality of life in our region”.
At its heart, this initiative is about community coming together to support the next generation.
