The Westport Club’s flagship community event – Christmas Under The Stars was held on the Hastings River Foreshore in front of The Westport Club on Sunday 9 December from 5.30pm.
The event, now in its 12th year was a celebration of all the wonderful things that make up Christmas and a fantastic opportunity for all the community to come together. Attendees were able in a small way to help those in need this festive season by donating to the Port Macquarie Salvation Army Christmas Hamper Appeal through a $2 donation on entry.
Headlining this Westport event was Tim Campbell who not only MC’d the event, but got the crowd dancing with a dazzling live performance. Campbell is an Australian television and stage actor and singer, best known for playing the character of Dan Baker in the soap opera Home and Away between 2004 and 2008. In 2007, he came third series 6 of Dancing with the Stars. After headlining the Westport Club’s Christmas Under the Stars event in 2016, the Club was happy to welcome him back to the stage again for another fantastic show in 2018. Joining Tim on stage were local acts Riley Page, Angus Gill, Coastal Opera, Telegraph Point Public School, Port Macquarie Performing Arts, Hastings Secondary College, Port Macquarie Hastings Municipal Band, and Westport Public School. Santa and Mrs Clause also made an appearance, announced via a fitting fanfare by Hastings District Highland Pipe Band, who are celebrating 60 years in Port Macquarie this year.
Attendees enjoyed delicious treats from Moreish Pizza, Port’s Mr Ice Cream, the Mexican food truck and more, and enjoyed amusements by LED promotions, Party Professionals and Scaramouche Children’s Entertainment PMQ.
Thank you to everyone who attended the event and donated $2 towards the Salvation Army Christmas Hamper Appeal – your donation will go a long way towards helping those in need. Thank you also to our volunteers Flamin’ Dragons, Westport Women’s Bowling Club, and the Salvation Army Port Macquarie, who selflessly gave of their time to work at the event and without whom the event would not have been possible.
