ArtWalk: Celebrating art and culture in Port Macquarie
Each year, the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council celebrates art and culture in Port Macquarie by hosting the ArtWalk festival, with the event spanning across several days. It attracts locals and tourists alike and is a great event suitable for all members of the family.
ArtWalk 2019 will be hosted from 18-21 July, with the main event based in the Port Macquarie CBD on 18 July, from 6.00-9.00pm.
What is ArtWalk?
ArtWalk is an open air festival for all ages. It’s a great event that showcase local art and culture in Port Macquarie, and encourages people to get out and about and savour the creativity of the local area.
The annual activity is a free community event, described as “an edgy, intense and surprising night of discovery.”
It incorporates a fabulous array of art installations and performances including digital projections onto building walls, live art, exhibitions, live music and entertainment, and artists’ markets. And, it not only involves displays of artworks and performances, it also uniquely incorporates the streetscape of the Port Macquarie town centre with local cafes and restaurants also getting involved.
Celebrating Art and Culture: The ArtWalk theme
Each year, ArtWalk focusses on a core theme, with the 2019 event concentrating on the ‘Elements’ of earth, wind, fire and water.
ArtWalk Satellite Events
The event extends beyond the main evening, with ArtWalk satellite events occurring from 18-21 July throughout Port Macquarie-Hastings area – with live music, performances and openings.

Museums and Galleries in Port Macquarie

It’s an easy stroll along the Hastings River walk from The Westport Club to the Port Macquarie town centre, and you’ll be able to take in some of the ArtWalk activities and spectacles along the way.
