On Friday 11 January, The Westport Club proudly presented a Fireworks Spectacular to remember. Last held in 2014, The Westport Club’s Fireworks Spectacular had long been a popular community event in Port Macquarie, and the 2019 instalment was no exception. Several thousand members of the community gathered on the shores of the Hastings River to enjoy a free afternoon out with live music by Bounty Hunters followed by a stunning fireworks display at around 9pm. Entry to the Fireworks Spectacular was free, and the kids were kept entertained with free face painting and jumping castle, as well as their own free kite to take home or try out on the night.

Attendees were kept fed and watered throughout the event with Marine Rescue putting on a charity BBQ, Hastings Coffee Co serving up hot coffees and takeaway foods, and Port’s Mr Icecream provided the sweet sustenance!

In return for the Australian flag kites, event attendees were asked to make a voluntary donation to our local Surf Life Saving Clubs. This donation went towards a larger fundraiser which The Westport Club had been conducting throughout December and January at Port Central. In total, almost $2,500 was raised for Flynn’s Beach and Tacking Point Surf Life Saving Clubs. This money will go towards the purchase of vital equipment to help the clubs continue their fantastic work in our community.
