The Westport Club’s flagship community event – Christmas Under The Stars was held on the Hastings River Foreshore in front of The Westport Club on Sunday 10 December from 5.30pm.
The event, now in its 11th year was a celebration of all the wonderful things that make up Christmas and a fantastic opportunity for all the community to come together. Attendees were able in a small way to help those in need this festive season by donating to the Port Macquarie Salvation Army Christmas Hamper Appeal through a $2 donation on entry.
Headlining this Westport event was Deni Hines. Hines is best known for her hits “Aint no Sunshine’; “That Word (L.O.V.E.)’; and “It’s Not Over” as front-woman of 90’s group ‘The Rockmelons’. Deni received her education in the entertainment industry sitting to the side of stage watching her legendary mother, Marcia Hines, belt out a string of Top 10 singles in the heady days of the 1970’s music scene. Joining Deni on stage was Sing Australia, Riley Page, Telegraph Point Public School, Angus Gill and Port Macquarie Performing Arts.
Thank you to everyone who attended the event and donated $2 towards the Salvation Army Christmas Hamper Appeal – your donation will go a long way towards helping those in need. Thank you also to our volunteers who selflessly gave of their time to work at the event and without whom the event would not have been possible.
